Who are we and what are we about
Designing great clothing to wear when you are out there having fun is what we are all about at otc. Our roots are in New Zealand and always will be but we are on our journey taking otc out into the world now from our Arrowtown/Queenstown start 10 years ago. First stop Sydney, Australia and we are loving it!
We are born and bred New Zealanders and very proud of our country. It's in our DNA. While everyone else is rushing off to china to make their clothing, we are sticking with new zealand made, 100% pure.
Out there clothing is for people who like to 'play'. Save your suits for the office. When it is time to put your playclothes on and get 'out there', come visit otc!
Our mantra is about having fun and always having choices in life. Our clothing is designed to reflect this and our chosen playground...New Zealand.
We often get asked about our symbol and the relevance of it. It was designed specifically to reflect the essence of our brand and our home base (our playground). It symbolises freedom, energy and playfulness but is also chilled out. It is simple and strong reflecting the style and quality of our clothing. It has no boundaries, it is accessible, innocent and youthful - not influenced, unaffected by trends and by design, raw. Finally, our symbol is organic and has a distinctive New Zealand tribal and street flavour reflecting the pride and confidence we have in our community. It is often referred to as the 'bat' or the 'angel'...
Our cotton tees are organic
It's better for us and remember we are wearing these tees next to our skin so it matters. Plus it's good for the environment. Simple. The best things are.
The non-organic method for growing and harvesting cotton uses all kinds of bad stuff. That's not good for us or our world. End of story.
Our gear is by design
- uncomplicated (colour and garment design)
- approachable (not overbranded, affordable for most)
- very wearable (both in fit and function)
- not seen everywhere (in fact only available here)
- and tremendously good fun to play in...
We put a lot of time into the fabric selection.
Because we live in a harsh climate the fabric has to work out there.
We are busy so it has to be machine washable and we don't like to iron (what is ironing anyway?).
We put a lot of time into the fit.
You feel good cos you look good cos they fit you right. Simple. And we take time on the designs. To keep them simple and pure to the OTC brand (on trend but classic and wearable).
Minimum detailing fuss and subtle branding (unless we particularly want to make a statement!).
Pockets and zips only where you absolutely need them. but small stash pockets in tucked away places so you can stash stuff cos that's what you need when you are out there doing it.
